Return to the North The Virtual Archaeology of Electronic Orbits
SessionArt Gallery
DescriptionThis work is a 6Dof XR interactive narrative work. The railway network once reshaped the history and visual culture of northern Chinese cities. Ironically, it also witnessed the slow process of resource depletion in these vast areas. While connecting these towns, the railway tracks also isolated them - on both the realty space and the virtual algorithmic database. We collected hundreds of videos from four northern Chinese cities, and used Gaussian blur and deep learning to create immersive digital scenes, we hope to create an optimistic future archaeological landscape: electronic tracks connect data islands and become distributed virtual narrative spaces.
