Quantum Tango

DescriptionQuantum Tango, 2025, connects Vancouver, London, and Milan through a real-time, interactive digital artwork. At each location, a screen and camera setup respond to local audience movement while revealing dynamic images and colour patterns influenced by activity in the other cities. Blending abstract visuals with interlaced images captured at different times, the work creates a shared, evolving aesthetic experience across continents. Building on Edmonds’ earlier Communications Game (1971 on) and Cities Tango (2007 on) projects, this generative networked piece explores urban presence, audience agency, and remote intimacy—transforming public interaction into a cross-cultural dialogue beyond the limits of conventional telepresence. This will be the first time a 3-node version of the work is presented, especially for SIGGRAPH.
