Workshop: Town Hall: Gaussian Splats - Ready for Standardization
DescriptionGaussian splats are a rapidly emerging method for the fast and efficient creation of photorealistic 3D visualizations, and is particularly suitable for real-time applications. Today, a growing number of software solutions support the capture, visualization, editing, and compression of Gaussian splats. However, as different companies adopt varying formats, the risk of ecosystem fragmentation becomes a possibility.

In this 90-minute Frontier Workshop we will discuss the current technologies, formats, and use cases and investigate the potential for standardization to enable interoperability and sustainable growth.

The workshop will cover:
- A Gaussian Splats 101
- Using Gaussian Splats for Digital Twins
- The state of Gaussian Splats on the Web
- Community engagement via a Panel Discussion

By fostering collaboration among users, tool developers, and engine vendors, this workshop seeks to guide the evolution of Gaussian splat interoperability and help remove pain points, drive adoption and prevent fragmentation
