Biography
Graduated from the University of Genova in Italy with a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and has worked for a number of years in clinical settings across both Italy and Ireland. After obtaining a professional qualification in Medical Device Science from the National University of Galway Ireland in 2014, moved to University College London and completed her PhD in Disability and Assistive Technology in 2018.
Throughout her career, Giulia has collaborated with several academic institutions across the world, start-ups and private ventures, NGOs, DPOs and UN agencies. Her research interests centre on the design, development and evaluation of new and existing technologies to empower people with disabilities and other marginalised communities living in different parts of the world. Giulia has authored numerous scholarly publications in premier human-computer-interaction, disability, assistive technology, and rehabilitation venues as well as the book Disability Interactions: Creating Inclusive Innovations (Springer).
Her current research is part of the JST Moonshot Project and Re-Mind KAKENHI project focusing on developing more inclusive technology and social system design.
