Jo Ann Tan
Biography
Jo Ann Tan began her career aspiring to be an animator, but soon found her true passion behind the scenes—building the teams and technology that bring animated stories to life. She got her start as a coordinator at Animal Logic, and has spent the past 17 years leading technology departments and projects at studios such as MPC and DNeg in London and Vancouver. Most recently, Jo Ann returned home to Australia for a full circle moment, to join what is now Netflix Animation Studios.
Jo Ann takes an active role in creating a work environment that is open, diverse, and supportive. She believes representation matters—not only so people from underrepresented groups can see themselves reflected, but also so everyone can bring their authentic selves to work. Outside of work, she’s a (very part-time) pottery enthusiast and proud mum to her two most demanding direct reports—her kids.
