Born in Shanghai and now based in Vancouver, Yuanyuan is a 3D artist, educator, and scholar at the University of British Columbia, where she is completing her PhD. Her creative practice combines digital art with cross-cultural design research, drawing on philosophical metaphors such as Zhuangzi’s wandering beyond and Indigenous ecological storytelling. Through teaching and participatory, collaborative projects, she works with communities, designers, and developers to explore how games, spatial narratives, and XR experiences can foster cultural wayfinding, relational thinking, and embodied storytelling. Her goal is to create cross-cultural interactive worlds that deepen connections between people and the land.
