Samuel Wilson Fares, born in Brazil and fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, developed a passion for photography and cinema after moving to the U.S. at age 4. He refined his skills at the University of Wisconsin Madison, working on commercials and music videos. After graduating, he joined Sonic Foundry (later Sony Creative Software) and Sony Pictures in 2003. As a Global Training Specialist, he trained professionals worldwide on digital workflows. In 2009, he became Product Marketing Manager for Sony’s Cinealta cinema cameras, supporting their launch across Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently, as Sony’s Virtual Production Marketing Manager and head of the Digital Media Production Center in LA, he partners with filmmakers, studios and industry leaders to test and showcase Sony’s latest production technologies. With over 22 years at Sony, Sam is a prominent advocate and innovator for filmmakers, advancing Sony’s cinema workflows and virtual production solutions.
